DIY - DSLR Steady Cam
This is a current on-going project that I decided to take-on after watching a DIY you-tube video for a home-made steady cam (https://youtu.be/da4dTGk-G6g)
Lessons Learned

Simple design but poor usability: After building the prototype in the instructions, I realized that hand-holding this DSLR steady-cam with a DSLR is actually quite heavy. A design that is supported by my body rather than my arms would be more ergonomic and easier to hold for long periods of time.

Finding the center of balance was really difficult for this design, the way the center of mass on the camera is distributed over the mounting fixture is uneven. It's also a top-heavy design which causes it to flip the moment it goes off-balance. I could possibly do an upside down version of this design however, it still has the first issue of being too heavy to hold for long periods of time.
